Terms & Conditions

This is a contract between student and instructor. Any changes to the terms and conditions will be notified to all parties at least 7 days prior to coming into effect.

By accepting to take driving lessons with Shiraz Driving School, the student agrees to these terms and conditions.

1. Code of Conduct

1.1  The instructor will abide by a professional Code of Conduct. Learn more by clicking here. https://www.gov.uk/adi-voluntary-code-of-practice

1.2  The instructors car will be fitted with dual controls and be kept clean and tidy at all times.

1.3  The instructor will be polite and behave professionally at all times.

2.  Entitlement to drive

2.1  The student must hold a current valid driving license to drive. We may take a photo of the driving license for registration purposes only. This data will not be shared with any third parties. The details of the license will be deleted from our system once the student has left our driving school.

2.2  The student must be medically fit for driving, including the eye sight test. The student must be able to read a car registration number plate from a distance of 20.5 metres. If glasses or contact lenses are required then they must be worn at all times when driving.

3 Fitness to drive

3.1  The student is responsible for their well being. The student must ensure they do not drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

3.2  The student must ensure they do not arrange driving lessons at times they are likely to be tired, stressed or distracted.

3.3  The student must wear suitable clothing and foot wear. Clothing should not restrict movement or vision or effect their driving ability in any way.

3.4  Any form of verbal or physical abuse towards the instructor, a driving examiner or any other road use will not be acceptable.

3.5  The instructor may terminate the lesson at any time, should they feel it is inappropriate to continue because of the students behaviour, sobriety or state of mind. In these situations the lesson fee will not be refunded. The instructor will determine if further lessons can be given at a later date.

4  Lesson fees

4.1  Lesson fees will be agreed before the first lesson. Any change in lesson fees will be notified in advance and agreed before the next lesson is booked.

4.2  All lesson fees must be paid in advance at least 3 days prior to the lesson. Fees for block bookings must be paid in full at least 3 days prior to the first lesson.

4.3  Payments can be made by bank transfer or cash before the lesson starts.

4.4  Shiraz Driving School does not provide driving lessons without payment in advance.

5  Driving lesson cancellation by the driving instructor

5.1  Sometimes, the instructor may have to cancel a lesson at short notice. This could be due to, the instructor being ill, adverse weather conditions, extreme traffic jams because of road closures, a mechanical fault with the instructors car or some other emergency or unforeseen circumstances. The student will be notified at the earliest opportunity.

5.2  The instructor will rearrange another lesson suitable to both parties.

6  Driving lesson cancellation by the student

6.1  The student must give at least 48 hours notice when cancelling a driving lesson, otherwise the lesson will be charged in full. This includes reducing the length of a driving lesson for example 2 hours to 1 hour.

6.2  The student must confirm the cancellation by text message with the instructor.

6.3  If the student repeatedly cancels their driving lessons, the instructor may ask for payment in advance before booking the next lesson or discontinue driving lessons with the student.

6.4  Where the student is in the driving seat, and the instructors sole opinion is the student is not fit to drive, because of alcohol, drugs or any other reason, the driving lesson will be cancelled and the lesson charged in full.

7  Appointment times

7.1  The student will be sent a confirmation of the date/time of their next lesson by text on their phone. This message must not be deleted by the student on purpose. If the message is deleted accidently, the student must notify the instructor, and another duplicate message of the lesson appointment will be sent immediately.

7.2   Upon arrival the driving instructor will send message confirming arrival. The driving instructor will wait 10 minutes after the agreed appointment time. Within the 10 minutes waiting period, the instructor will attempt to call the student on the phone. If there is no answer or ring back at the end of 10 minutes, the instructor will deem the lesson cancelled without prior notice and the lesson will be charged at full rate.

7.3  The driving instructor will be punctual. However, sometimes traffic conditions may cause a delay. The student should allow a 10 minute waiting period. The instructor should make contact with the student if the delay is more than 10 minutes. The lesson will commence from the appointed time. The instructor may cut the lesson short, with the students agreement and add the additional minutes on to a subsequent lesson. The instructor and student must both agree to this arrangement.

7.4  The student may request to be picked up or dropped off at a location other than the agreed location. This must be agreed by both parties at least 48 hours prior to the lesson
